The Montford Point Marine Association Detroit Chapter 19 was chartered in 1978 by National Headquarters of the Montford Point Marine Association a non-profit 501(C)19 veterans and military organization.
The Original Montford Point Marines
Mission
To develop a broad based initiative to support and preserve the legacy of the Montford Point Marines as a historical icon.
To enhance and assist the quality of life for veteran Marines and their families, especially hospitalized and disabled veterans, and those returning from war.
Provide a safe and secure environment for camaraderie, recreation, and facilities for events and occasions.
Acknowledge and commemorate ceremonies, events, and occasions of particular importance to United States Marines.
To promote the ideals of American democracy, patriotism, and the ‘espirit de corps’
Promote academic excellence and provide scholarships for student higher education at an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical school.
Encourage adults and youth to build strong character, morals, and values, and become model citizens of society.
Serve as a source for information and referral to all veterans.

The Veterans History Project collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. Created and authorized by Congress, the Veterans History Project received unanimous support in the House and Senate and was signed into law on October 27, 2000.
